Independence Day

On this great holiday - the most important in our nation’s history - it’s important to think back to its origin in 1776. America’s birth was about a lot of things. It was about freedom. It was about fairness. It was about independence. Much like a child’s first time releasing his mother’s hand and forging off to walk by himself, America walked. America stumbled. America grew.

It takes a lifetime of growing and learning before a person can truly know how to live life, but by then we’ve already scaled to the peak and begun our descent down the other side. People are limited by a restrictive lifespan. A country is not… necessarily. This has to be deep in our minds always.

Just like our ancestors were tired of having their hands held by a mother nation, everyone yearns for the freedom and responsibility that comes with independence. This is why I have to question the legitimacy of beer distributors being open on July 4th. Do we really want to be known as a a country of people that can’t plan ahead and buy their beer on July 3rd? Some poor guy has to work on our Independence Day because you insist on waiting until the last minute.

So, the next time our nation’s birthday comes along, and you’re planning to celebrate like it’s 1776, get out there and show the rest of the world what we Americans are made of. Buy your beer ahead of time. And buy a little extra. Beer is never wasted.
